Costume Crystals (Cubes) and Keys are in-game collectibles used to obtain a majority of Balan Wonderworld's Costumes.

Keys are needed to unlock Costume Crystals, and to obtain the specific Costume from a crystal. Both Costume Crystals and Keys can be found in any Chapter's Act 1, 2, Boss Act, and 3.
Costume Crystals and Keys reappear after a short amount of time, and Keys are usually near the Costume Crystal. Though some Costume Crystals/Keys don't reappear if there are more than 2 costumes in the Costume bar on the top left.
Keys aren't always near some Costume Crystals, including Moon Walker's, or are more further away, requiring the use of platforming, mainly by using another Costume.

- The Demo Launchers, and the Balan Costume are the only two costumes that are not obtained through a Costume Crystal and Key.
- Costume Crystals are called "Costume Crystals" on the official Balan Wonderworld Twitter, and "Costume Cubes," in-game.
- The Costume, Key Mouse, replaces the need for unlocking Costume Crystals/Cubes with Keys.
